After the untimely death of her husband, shy Joan (a part-time cleaner) needs money fast to keep her home. She asks Fred, her sleazy boss, for extra hours but he fires Joan and employs the glamorous but empty-headed Sharon in her stead. Desperate measures are called for and, helped by Sharon and two other former colleagues, she becomes the Madame of a do-it- yourself co-operative brothel…a brothel with no sex. This original, award-winning and independent British comedy is a gentle delight and we hope our screening will be introduced by one of the team that made it.
