This dark comedy-thriller relaunched Hungarian cinema to an international, and appreciative, audience. Set on a fictional Budapest Metro, it’s centred on a disheveled, despised and disfunctional band of ticket inspectors; a miss-match of travellers who don’t want to buy a ticket – and a hooded killer. Shot during the five hours every day the real Metro is closed, what you see is what was there – no SFX for the action sequences.
